A Note from the Workshop

A Tradition Passed Down

I make traditional Dutch‑style wooden dolls in my Topsham workshop, using the same techniques developed by my father, Eric Horne. Each doll is individually crafted, jointed by hand, and finished using natural materials. This is a small, family tradition that has been part of our lives since the 1970s.

The Eric Horne Legacy

Eric Horne was well known for his miniature toys and wooden figures, many of which were supplied to collectors and museums, including the Kansas City Miniature Museum. His original methods, tools, and unfinished pieces remain in my workshop today, and I continue the craft in his honour.

My work today

Every doll I make follows the same principles Eric used: simple materials, traditional jointing, and careful hand‑finishing. I create them in small batches, one at a time, keeping the work personal and true to the original style.
